FUNdamental Golf Program
"Somebody
once said, 'It is not whether you win or lose, but it's how you play the
game that really counts.” We often forget how true that is and FUNdamental
golf teaches all of us ... How to play the game!
Kirk Triplett-PGA

"FUNdamental
Golf is an important program that will keep golf the respected sport that
it is. The program will teach the younger generation the values of the
game and how to act on and off the course, which is vital for life and
becoming a well rounded adult."

The Purpose of the FUNdamental Golf Program
The basics of golf are very simple. They are also universal, existing in
most every society and culture, taught in our school systems throughout
the world and preached in almost every religion. The basics of golf have
very little to do with the game of golf. Instead, they are the principles
that provide positive growth, self-reliance and the development of social
skills as we strive to exist with nature and each other. Respect, honesty
and knowledge are the founding principles naturally inherent in the game.
They are the same principles naturally inherent in life. Here, we teach
these principles, and more, to provide golfers of any age the ability to
play this game in a safe, fast and courteous manner.
What is the Fundamental Golf Program?
With the
emphasis on behavior of the golfers versus the swing mechanics, the
FUNdamental Golf program encourages young people to develop into polite,
respectful, confident, productive and contributing members of our society.
This program will protect the integrity of golf and change the direction
of other youth sports. The FUNdamental Golf Program will focus on how to
play a game as it was originally intended, not just improvement of their
golfing skills. As negative news surrounds other sports on a regular
basis, golf has separated itself by holding true to concepts such as
honesty, integrity and sportsmanship. We have an opportunity to instill
these traits into our young golfers and make a great impact on all
others-juniors and adults alike.
How does the FUNdamental Golf Program work?
At this time, the SWSPGA is forming the backbone of our program which
will be the incentives offered by the golf courses throughout Arizona and
those in Southern Nevada. The dates and times that the FUNdamental Golf
Program will hold on-course certification seminars with sign-up
capabilities is on the SWSPGA Website (www.southwest.pga.com). After
completion of the program (2-3 hours), participants will be issued a card
that will identify them as a FUNdamental Golf Program graduate, which
entitles them to the incentives offered by participating facilities.
Information outlining all the participating courses and the incentives
that are offered will be available on the SWSPGA website
www.southwest.pga.com - (go to Junior Golf and on that page Click
FUNdamental Golf) or go to
www.FUNdamentalGolfProgram.com to sign up.
The FUNdamental Golf
Program certification will be valid for the calendar year beginning
January 1, 2008 and expiring on December 31, 2008. Recertification will
be required on a yearly basis and the program will be updated to best fill
the need of the certifications purpose.
